The recently concluded event of Samsung has again brought folding devices into the limonist. Now more affordable and a little more durable, the Galaxy Z pli 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are positioned to help take foldable phones to the consumer market. Of course, it would require other manufacturers will also jump on the train and, surprising, Google could be one of them. In fact, that the pixel fold rumor could come earlier than expected, at least based on a loose connection with the next pixel 6.
Google does not pledge to jump on the band bands immediately, so the idea that it made a foldable phone is already quite character. The suggestion that could actually come in the next 12 months is even more out of the ordinary. However, this could be the case on the basis of a small index found in the last Android beta code 12.
According to Tipster @ cstark27, the source code refers to CodeNamed Oriole, Raven and Passport devices. The passport has long been associated with Google’s first foldable device, which everyone calls the folded pixel for now. Oriole and Raven, on the other hand, are suspected of being pixel 6 and pixel 6 Pro.
The more revealing details, however, is the Samsung 5G modem called “G5123B”. This is the same modem that will be used for the Pixel 6 series, suggesting that this pixel fold will be part of the same generation of Google devices that will run on its custom tensor chip. If this is the case, the chances that the phone launches before the next pixel iteration is even higher.
Unfortunately, not much else is known about the folded pixel at this point. Sources claim that it will use Samsung’s ultra-thin glass technology (UTG), but the component will be shared by almost all foldable phones that will be launched this year. Google has prepared Android itself to support these foldable scenarios and it will be interesting to see how different it will be from all implements so far.
