iCloud Passwords Windows app is finally here

iCloud Passwords Windows app is finally here

For the longest hour, Apple rejected rival platforms and enclosed its users in their own walled gardens. However, times have changed, and Apple was without more remedy than supporting its customers who are sometimes forced to use Windows or Android devices every day. It has been slowly expanding the availability of its applications and exclusive features, and the latest arrival is a more stable and more reliable version of iCloud passwords that finally allows Mac users and iOS users administer their keychains even in Windows.

This is a completely different beast from the chromed extension of the icloud passwords that was launched and then eliminated and then launched earlier this year. That had a very specific case of use of being able to access the passwords stored in the icloud account of the user from the web browser. Trust the iCloud application for Windows, but that was practically all you could do.

ICloud for Windows version 12.5 now brings a more complete experience when it comes to managing those passwords. It comes with a separate application of iCloud passwords to which you can access as well as any regular Windows application and start from the Start menu. The features are quite basic compared to dedicated password managers, but still much better than having nothing at all for iCloud passwords.

With iCloud passwords, you can search, see, add, delete and update credentials on your iCloud keychain. The ICLOD updated for Windows also adds a browser extension compatible with Microsoft Edge. The chromed extension is, of course, still there.

However, password synchronization between Mac and Windows will not succeed by magic and must configure it in the ICLOD configuration first. You must also have an Apple account with the authentication of two factors enabled first, and at least Windows 10 version 18362.145 and MacOS 11 or higher.
