It is almost expected that each new generation of smartphones improves in the previous one, usually with updated specifications. Unless there is a big problem in an older model, it usually means larger, better or more hardware. However, there are occasions when companies in an inexplicable way back on something and use a less impressive component for a next phone. That could be the case with the Galaxy S22 + and its battery, which, when taken along with other rumors, paints a pretty disappointing image.
The Galaxy S21 + this year came with a large battery of 4,800 mAh. Although it is not the largest for its generation, it was only 200 mime of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s Generoso 5,000 Mah Pack. One would expect the next Galaxy S series to have a larger battery capacity or at least similar, but that may not be the case.
According to the GalaxyClub, a certain battery Samsung EB-BS906ABY is directed to the SM-S906, which is believed to be the model number for the Galaxy S22. The battery capacity is rated at 4.370 mAh, which means that it could obtain a typical advertised capacity of 4,500 mm. Either way, it is a big step down from the S21 + Galaxy and, in reality, it puts it in the same place as the Galaxy S20 + since last year.
Of course, Samsung could squeeze more the life of a smaller battery through software optimizations and more electrical efficiency processors. However, it still does not look good on paper, especially with Samsung also degrading Galaxy Z fold battery 3. With luck, this Galaxy S22 + Battery Downgrade is compensated with some other new feature or perhaps a thinner and lighter design.
The Galaxy S22 series is expected to vanish the lower panel camera, for good or for bad. There may also be more models using the Snapdragon 898 than the highly anticipated AMD Exynos 2200. The Galaxy S22 seems to be out of a difficult start in terms of expectations, but honestly it is too early to judge it at this point.
